2024 marks the 24th edition of the internationales literaturfestival berlin (ilb)! The ilb is a vibrant celebration of global literary voices. Set against the backdrop of Berlin's rich cultural landscape, the festival serves as a vibrant hub for literary exploration and dialogue. It brings together an array of voices, genres, and perspectives, offering a unique platform for renowned authors, poets, and thinkers to engage in stimulating discussions, readings, and performances that cross cultural boundaries. In an increasingly interconnected world, the festival underscores the enduring power of literature to inspire, challenge, and unite us.

The ilb will take place from 5 to 14 September. The Young Programme for school classes will take place from 9 to 18 September.

The UK authors attending ilb this year are Rachel Cusk, Sonia Faleiro, Olivia Laing, Andrew O‘Hagan, Ben Okri, Noo Saro-Wiwa, Elif Shafak, Hannah Sullivan and Camilla Chester.

We have conducted exclusive interviews with several of these UK authors. Discover their unique writing habits, their personal connections to the city of Berlin, and how they channel their creative energies.
