I can’t believe it, we’re already half way through the first semester! So far it has been interesting, sometimes challenging, I met many new people, explored different places in Scotland, went mountain biking and spent lots of time at the library, preparing for my classes.
The cohort of my study program is very diverse. We have lots of people with previous work experience in the field of sports, many who have studied politics or international relations, and a few from backgrounds non-related such as marine biology or law. We’re from a variety of different countries, including Palestine, Egypt, China, South Korea, the US, Italy, Denmark, India, GB and Germany. This makes for a great intercultural and interdisciplinary experience and people bring lots of different knowledge, views, experiences and opinions to our seminars and lectures.
My week is quite relaxed when you look at my schedule of lectures and seminars, but in fact there is a lot to do: do the readings, prepare posters and presentations, watch online lectures. My first assignment is due in a few days and everybody is nervous how this will go.
However, I’ve also found time to travel, go mountain biking, spend time with friends. In fact, I haven’t spent a single weekend in October in Edinburgh. I traveled to Newcastle for a conference, went mountain biking in Fort William, flew back to Germany for my graduation and had a photography job in the highlands. I’m somewhat always on the road when I’m not at the gym or preparing for classes at the library. Time seems to fly, we’re already in week 7 of 11 of this semester. Now it’s getting serious though! Assignment are due in November, presentations need to be given, and I’ll be doing my first ever enduro mountain bike race this upcoming weekend! I’m so excited and also a bit nervous. Find out about it in my next blog!
