Sir Harrison Birtwistle's 80th Birthday
On the occasion of his 80th birthday, Musik für heute e.V. will be hosting two concerts in Hanover devoted to Sir Harrison Birtwistle, one of the most significant British composers of today. Performers including Charlotte Riedijk, Alice Rossi, the Kuss Quartet and Das Neue Ensemble will be performing a range of Birtwistle's music and Sir Harry will be present himself to give a personal introduction to his work.
Concert One: "Sir Harry’s Song – Songs 2000-2009"
On the last weekend in October, Sir Harrison Birtwistle will be in Hanover where he give a personal introduction to his vocal and chamber works. In a unique concert, his songs from the last decade will be performed by soloists of the Institut für Kammermusik und Lied of the HMTMH.

Concert Two: "Sir Harry’s Song – Carmen perpetuum"
On 26 October, a selection of Sir Harrison Birtwistles main chamber works will be presented. Led by Stefan Asbury, singers including Charlotte Riedijk and Alice Rossi will perform alongside the Kuss Quartett, das Neue Ensemble and the Youth Choir of the Mädchenchor Hannover. The early composition "Carmen Arcadiae Mechanicae Perpetuum" and the 1990s work "Pulse Shadows" will round off the evening which is devoted to the eternal power of the melody.
