Research theatre about the German adoption system
Selina Thompson and Scottee are at two opposite ends of the adoption system: while Thompson was adopted, Scottee would like to adopt a child with his partner. Together with citizens of Hannover with private or professional experience of adoption, with people who want to adopt and Youth Welfare Services employees, they will dedicate themselves to the German adoption system in a two-week residency. They will investigate criteria that are conditioned by questionable ideals, which privilege and exclude certain people through discourses, regulations and laws. Their research will conclude with a conversation between all the participants and the audience. Local Host: Verena Meyer.
Selina Thompson was previously a guest at the Theaterformen festival in 2018 with her installation Race Cards.
