Chris Thrope pairs up with director Rachel Chavkin who won a Tony award 2019 for Best Director of the Broadway musical Hadestown and brings his show Status to Berlin with two performances at English Theatre ETB.

British writer and theatre maker Thorpe shines a light on the concept of nation which is more relevant than ever today. What does it mean to be "British", "German", "Spanish"?
In light of current Brexit and increasing nationalism around the world, Thorpe sets off to a journey across Germany, North America, the Navajo Nation, Singapore and England to explore what "nationality" actually entails. He does so with music creating a globe-spanning journey of attempted escape.

“… the words are eloquent, the music essential and powerful, and the performance full of a brilliant, prowling precision…”
