Louise Welsh was born in London and now lives in Glasgow. She is this year's chair of British Council Germany's renowned annual Literature Seminar which will look at "Scottish Literature Now!" and will present current voices from the Scottish literary scene.

In 2002 Louise published the novel "The Cutting Room", which has since been translated into 20 languages. In addition to scripts for various television and radio productions, her writing stake also includes several plays. In 2009, she wrote the libretto for the 15-minute opera "Remembrance Day". She spent a year as a scholar in Bamberg. Louise Welsh’s work includes novels, short stories and plays.
She also works as a professor for Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow. She has received several awards and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
On 13 February, Louise Welsh will read from “Plague Times Trilogy” and “The Girl on the Stairs” (moderated by Dr Kirsten Reimers).
