Diverse Voices, New Directions

An extraordinary literary experience: 3 days of workshops, discussions and readings with up-and-coming British writers in Berlin.  The British Council Literature Seminar offers students, academics, publishers, translators, journalists and literature fans from across Europe the chance to hear the latest writing from the UK and engage with the writers and their work at first hand. 

Join us over three days in January for a mixture of readings, discussions and workshops with the writers Hari Kunzru, Malika Booker, Catherine Johnson, Nikesh Shukla, Irenosen Okojie and Sharon Dodua Otoo. The seminar will be chaired by Bernardine Evaristo.

Club event and concert with '3 Women'

The British Council Literature Seminar 2017 will close with a party at Werkstatt der Kulturen on 28 January. Participants are invited to join a concert with '3 Women', also known as Bona and Gonza Ngoumou and Jeannine Mayani. Sensual melodies, profound lyrics and supporting rythms are what constitues their style.Their repertoire consists of original songs and cover versions of their favourite songs by artists such as Miriam Makeba, Tracy Chapman, Abbey Lincoln, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Gil-Scott Heron, Richard Bona, Sandra Nkaké and others.
